Le Galeriste is a Montreal-based e-commerce business venture founded in 2016. As a ‘wearable art gallery,’ Le Galeriste receives artworks from renowned artists and designates a dedicated designer who will create design options based on the artist’s preferred type of garment. With Le Galeriste, artists can create their own fashion products, and start earning retail profits without owning inventory. Le Galeriste is home to exclusive artworks, excellent craftsmanship, and high-quality yet environmentally-friendly fashion products.
Given the complexity of managing online orders, vendors, and warehouses, we chose to implement nopCommerce. Built on the .NET framework, this shopping cart serves a broad range of eCommerce needs and is best known for being search-engine-friendly, highly customizable, and scalable. Thanks to those desirable properties, we found no difficulty in enabling discount code verification and activation with a little tweak in the discount plugin on nopCommerce. To further enhance the website, we used ElasticSearch - an intelligent search engine that performs a high level of precision in search results. This helps web visitors find their favorite artwork, products, and artists easily and effortlessly. As part of our responsibility to develop the back-end of the website, we built a streamlined and systematic database to help designers store and manage design files easily instead of manually browsing a Google Sheets file. This not only frees the stress of management but also helps the design team allocate digital assets more sufficiently and focus more on delivering design prototypes.
By the end of 2021, Le Galeriste has scaled up to 400% compared to what it was 5 years ago, producing thousands of fashion creations for clients from global geographies. Le Galeriste has undoubtedly found a way to breathe life into fabrics and weave together the artistry of the world’s most respected artists and the quality of Montreal craftsmanship. And no matter how vast their growth will be in the future, we believe their mission of producing “humanly & environmentally ethical products” will never wear off.
